Shrigley Hall Wedding Photographer - Ashley & James
It seems so long ago when Ashley and James asked me to photograph their wedding at the incredible Shrigley Hall Hotel in Cheshire last December. Ashley being a very prepared bride, booked me way in advance so I had been looking forward to this one for some time.
The entire day was held at the venue, within the Tilden Suite. Shrigley Hall is a former country house standing to the northwest of the village of Pott Shrigley, Cheshire, England. It has since been used as a school, when a chapel was added, and later as a hotel and country club operated by The Hotel Collection.
The hall was built in about 1825 for William Turner, a Blackburn mill owner and Member of Parliament. The architect was Thomas Emmet senior from Preston. During the 20th century the building was used as a school by the religious institute of the Salesians of Don Bosco, who in 1936 added a chapel to the south of the house, dedicating it to Saint John Bosco. This was designed by the Arts and Crafts architect Philip Tilden. An attic was added to the house in the middle of the 20th century. In 1989 the house and church were converted into a hotel and country club.
After such a lovely ceremony it was then over to the bar and lots of time spent with friends and family. As I shoot in a documentary style, I don’t stop and pose all day but just leave you to enjoy your day. Natural moments caught make the best images in my opinion and something to cherish for years to come.
The weather was a little touch and go during the bridal preparations however for December it was relatively warm and we managed to sneak off for a few outdoor shots while the rest of the guest continued to party.
What a wonderful day and I enjoyed every minute of it. Many thanks to Matt of Matt Warrington Photography for helping on the day. I can’t wait to return to Shrigley Soon.
A huge congratulations to Ashley and James, it’s been so great getting to know you both and I hope to see you again soon.
Here's a small selection of the images from the day.
